Audio Visual Equipment Availability & Criteria Guidelines
Are you a future lecturer for either the Suffolk County Bar Association of Suffolk Academy of Law?
Lecturers may avail themselves of the following equipment when presenting a program.
1. Elmo overhead projector. Speaker is solely responsible for producing and bringing the transparencies they intend to use.
2. Kodak Ektagraphic III 35mm Slide Projector (with remote operation). Speaker must bring slides pre-loaded in a Kodak Carousel.
3. Sony Video Tape playback systems. Speaker to provide VHS tape.
4. CD audio playback systems. Speaker to provide CD’s
5. Audio Tape Cassette playback systems. Speaker to provide cassette tapes.
6. Wireless microphones.
7. Panasonic LCD projection system (projection of computer images). Please see below.
8. Hi Speed Wi-Fi (wireless) Internet access. Speaker may be required to re-configure their computer to gain access to our system.
Please note, in order to insure availability of equipment, a request must be made to the CLE coordinator at least 3-4 weeks prior to the program. In that we cannot guarantee that AV equipment will always function as the Speaker anticipates, the Speaker is strongly encouraged to have the AV presentation reproduced in paper format for distribution,
In addition, when producing a computer presentation for LCD projection please note the following limitations and criteria.
i. The Speaker/Lecturer is responsible for bringing their own computer and/or computer peripherals. Under NO circumstances with the SCBA or SAL supply ANY computer or computer peripherals to the Speaker/Lecturer.
ii. The SCBA/SAL does not employ any IT personnel. Our staff will do their best to assist the speaker with OUR equipment setup, but will not be responsible for insuring compatibility with our equipment and your computer. Speakers are responsible for configuring their equipment so as to operate properly with our equipment.
iii. Computer presentations MUST be produced at a resolution no greater than 1024 X 768 with a preferred resolution of 800 X 600. To enhance visual clarity, computer presentations, such as Power Point, should be produced with light colored backgrounds.
iv. Speakers shall be responsible for knowing how to place their computer into LCD (external monitor) mode [usually done with the function keys on the keyboard] .
v. Speakers shall be responsible for knowing how to adjust their computer’s screen resolution, so that the computer being used during the presentation is set to either 1024 X 768 -or- 800 X 600 so as to match the Power Point Presentation and our Projector. [This is usually set in the Display Properties - Settings].
vi. Known limitations. The SAL/SCBA acknowledges that our LCD projection equipment is incompatible (will not properly display image) with certain Dell Inspirion Laptops. So as to avoid issues at the time of the lecture, speakers are strongly urged to arrange for a pre-lecture “test drive.”
vii. The Speaker shall be solely responsible for producing any Visual Aid they intend to use. The SCBA/SAL shall not assist in any such production, including but not limited to Power Point presentations, transparencies, video tapes, audio tapes etc.
