The Suffolk County Bar Association Charitable Foundation was founded in 2005 with a bequest from a client of Joseph Hanshe, Esq., a former SCBA Director and the Foundation's first Managing Director.
The purpose of the Foundation is to raise monies through fundraising efforts and to utilize the funds for educational and charitable purposes, including the improvement of citizenship and the administration of justice, to increase the understanding and promotion of the law through the award of scholarships and grants and to establish charitable programs seeking to enhance the well-being of individuals, especially children, and to render financial assistance to entities organized and devoted to the realization of charitable purposes within Suffolk County.

Everything You Need to Know About Becoming a Judge
The SCBA, Amistad Black Bar Association, Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, the Suffolk County Women's Bar Association, in collaboration with the Franklin H. Williams Commission will host a CLE Program on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, 12:30 - 5:00 p.m. (Registration and Program) with a reception immediately following. The panel of distinguished Jurists will discuss topics including Securing the Nomination in Supreme Court, Election Law Overview & Related Ethical Requirements, Evaluation Processes, Making the Ballot in County and Family Courts and East End Courts as well as the appointment process for New York State Court of Claims and for Federal Magistrate Judge and District Court Judges. Halloween Costume Party
The Charity Foundation will host a Halloween Costume Party Fundraiser on Friday, October 28, 2016, 6 p.m., at the Bar Center, Donation $35. Wear your favorite costume and you will receive a free raffle ticket. There will be music by Equity (formerly Just Cause Band) and a Chinese Auction. Lots of fun and refreshments.
