In the era of mass incarceration, the defense attorney is in a unique position to promote a myriad of different outcomes for a clients’ case. This program will provide you with the how to and why to use holistic lawyering in your defense practice. Attorneys will be able to identify the multiple life issues their clients face, and explore the use of collateral resources to help infuse the client with services that not only assist with mitigation and plea bargaining their criminal case but also help to improve their client lives and reduce collateral consequences. You will be provided with numerous resource guides and tools to utilize in your practice. The presenter will also give you an overview of collateral consequences and the insight needed to avoid potential 440 issues, such as those presented in Padilla.
